Special Guest

Promenade at Westfield Galleria at Roseville Mall

Posing with our Ramen!

Tan Tan Ramen (Extra spicy) at Shoki Ramen in Sacramento. Yes, there's a bill in the background although we haven't touched the food yet cause the crazy girl handed her credit card to the waiter right after we ordered!
Self-timer iPhone app = super blurry picture

LOL our creepy faces
My best friend came up from Santa Cruz the other day and we spent the whole day eating and shopping (what we do best, ha!) Sadly, I barely EVER get to see her so I was so happy she could come up to visit me for my early birthday. It's always fun when we're together but at the same time always a struggle because we fight about who pays! No exception this time because it was a late birthday hang out for her (May 19th) and an early one for me (August 1st) so you could imagine we were bickering over paying for each other's shopping and eating expenses. Haha. Now, it's my turn to make the drive down to Santa Cruz!

Beachy Waves

I've stirred up the perfect concoction for some beachy waves. Aside from wearing my hair in it's natural state (that's because I've been too lazy to curl or straighten my hair like I used to do ever so often in high school) I love amping it up by getting those "natural" looking waves that I wish I had. I think it looks good on everyone. And it's just so laid-back and summery. I love it.

After showering, I let it dry about 90%, parted my hair in half, then twisted it into a bun and secured it with a hair tie. After an hour or two, or when it completely dries, (you can speed up the process by using a blow dryer, but I try to stay away from  heat as much as I can), take out the bun and....WAH LA! Some natural-looking-beachy-waves. Super easy. Apply hair spray or some mousse to make the waves last longer throughout the day. Too bad I did this right before going to sleep. Sigh.

San Paulo

Ater changing, haha
I've never really documented what I wear/how I look like when I'm at my internship but I was really loving the pink color on my lips yesterday (NYX's San Paulo lip cream)! As for my hair, I was going for the clean-polished-hair-to-the-side kind of look but I should've known my hair would end up looking like a hot mess due to the super hot weather. Anyways, I thought I would do more random posts since I feel as if I don't blog as often nowadays.

Sea Breeze

It was such a gorgeous Saturday so my sister and I were going to hit up ocean beach but, like all rare sunny days in San Francisco, it was packed. We stopped by Fort Funston instead--a place I haven't been to in so many years. Ahhhh, I forgot how beautiful it was there...so serene and peaceful. I'm dying to have a beach in Davis!

Sacramento County Fair

Since I was already in the Sacramento on Wednesday, we decided to hit up the fair! Got there around 8 PM so the sun was about the set and all the lights on the rides were slowly turning on. It was beautiful! We basically spent the whole next two hours walking around and playing games. Didn't go on any rides, though. Wrist bands are half off on Wednesdays which is a deal since rides take 4-5 tickets and each ticket costs $1. Lines were long and there were soooo many people on the premises so I didn't think I would have gone on the rides anyway. Like with most fairs/carnivals they make the games look so much easier than they actually are, and the people working at the booths are HUSTLERS! After going back home from unsuccessful attempts at the games (there were seriously too many booths and too many huge stuffed animals hanging) we looked up strategies on how to beat them. HAHA! Who does that?...Apparently, we do. I'm not dying to go back but since the fair is still going on for about 2 more weeks I might just end up back there. This time I'll be more prepared.

LA Part Two

waiting for my drink!

Ban Chan. The way we should all start our meals.
The one I got was Ice Milk Drink w/ Caramel, Grass Jelly, and Honey Boba. SO good. Best bob a drink I had thus far.

Very much well worth the $9.99 All You Can Eat Korean BBQ. Drool.
Don't know why it took me so long to post the second part of my road trip. Slight procrastination and laziness. Posting these pictures well beyond real time definitely brings back fond food memories. I still long for the creamy snow (previous post), the boba (we NorCal peeps tend to use the term "tapioca more) from Half and Half, and the ridiculously cheap and delicious Korean BBQ! I envy people who live in the LA area for these very reasons.

Hopefully next up: Las Vegas and Mexico! I was planning a trip to Puerto Vallarta only to remember that Mexico is outside of the U.S. (duh!) and that I need to renew my passport since it had expired for over a year now. Since it takes about a month for me to get my new passport, and prices are more steep in September than it is in August, I'm in a slight dilemma. Since this is a pretty chill summer for me, I really want to take the advantage to travel more since I LOVE seeing and experiencing new places. I wish traveling could be an actual career--Anthony Bourdain or Andrew Zimmern are probably the closest and luckiest people to hold that position!

LA Part One

In love. Shave ice + ice cream = snow ice!

90210 filmed here?!
super relaxing and nice view on campus

cream puff with vanilla filling at Beard Papa's

Here's my (food) diary for the LA trip I took a few days ago. I had such a fun time; the last time I took a trip down there I went to Disneyland, Magic Mountain, and to the places that were more "typical" for a trip to Southern California. However, what made this visit so much more different was that we got to go to the places that the locals/students would go to, considering we were in West LA. I can't stress how much I love palm trees and the perfection of the weather. I always long for the medium between the scorching heat of Davis and the fog of San Francisco--something Southern California weather gives me. That's a recipe for beautiful, well-dressed people! I'm also in love with the UCLA campus...is it bad that I was secretly wishing I go there??

4th of July

I absolutely loooove muscle tees. They're so comfortable thanks to the wide arm slit (hello, freedom!) and there's just something so relaxing/cool about it. I'm currently really enjoying my new gold chunky necklace--I've been wanting a nice bib/collar necklace and I think this a really simple and versatile piece to work with. Also, if you can't tell from third picture, my hair is slightly ombré'd!!!

Long story but I actually tried going a little lighter a few days ago. As expected with Asian hair, though, it got really brassy and yellow/orangey towards the bottom. I hated it and there was no way I could look professional with that sort of hair when I start my internship next week, so I toned it down with an ash brown color. What I got was MUCH more natural and flattering. After bleaching my hair twice (once up to the middle and a second time more towards the end), "toning" my hair with a light ash BLONDE (still made my hair brassy), and correcting for the final time with an ash brown + darkening my roots with a medium ash brown, I can conclude that my hair is in need of MAJOR repair. I'm going to be needing a lot of hot olive oil treatments this coming week!

Anyway, I hope you all are having/had a nice July 4th. I'm currently packing because I'll be leaving for LA tomorrow!!

Eye Candy

I have quite an obsession with sunglasses. I can't seem to ever get enough of them especially for brown-tone-tortoise sunnies. I don't know why but I always gravitate towards brown rather than black or gold rather than silver; the answer I conveniently concluded was that it's because my skin tone is warm.

I stopped by F21 near campus yesterday with the intention of looking for some work clothes (ankle length trousers/skirts) since I wasn't able to get to an H&M before my internship starts next Monday. Instead I walked out with two tops, a chunky necklace, and YES, a new pair of sunnies. YES, they were brown tortoise (the pair on top). A large chunk of my sunglasses are still back home in SF but these are the ones I wear most often aside from my black wayfarers, which isn't pictured because it doesn't match the color scheme. If you can't tell from the top two, I'm currently loving the cat-eye trend!
