Easy Breezy

Similar shorts, shoes here

The weather was incredibly hot today (mid 90s) so I thought it would be perfect to wear this crop top from Cotton On for the first time. I have a tendency of buying things and putting them off until I find the "right" occasion to wear it. I didn't want to waste any time with my new turquoise shorts, though. I was a little mixed about wearing such a short top to school but since my shorts were mid-high waisted, I thought it would be okay. It was so comfy and lightweight--I need to buy more crop tops for the summer! Lastly, I wore my glittery shoes I mentioned in one of my previous posts just so I could say I wore it twice now :P. It adds a fun little something to the outfit anyway!
P.S. my hair looks kinda messy and that's because I air dried it (as usual) and I don't bother combing it until it's at least 90% dry then I brush it out. I find it's the best method for me since my hair is getting pretty long and it gets tangled really easily (and I'm also lazy)!

Q: do you have a job? how do you make your money to be shopping so much?
A: No, I'm currently not working. I don't shop that often, but I have money from savings, scholarships, and also generous siblings!

Food Heaven + Some Questions Answered

A variety of ban chan. 14 to be exact plus complimentary tofu soup!
Daeji Bul Go Gee (spicy BBQ pork)
Ra Boki (rice cake and noodles in spicy paste)

I was meaning to upload this entry days ago but there was a glitch with the picture sizing. So, here it is now! I had dinner at a Korean restaurant called Muguboka in San Francisco. Let me tell you: Korean food and I are like *this* (fingers crossed). Spicy, pickled, and not to mention all the choices of side dishes (I was literally oo-ing and ahh-ing at all the options to choose from). What's there not to love?! I tried Ra Boki for the first time and it had such a nice spicy kick to it! Sooooo good. Actually, everything was so good. My stomach was very happy :)

Now, onto the questions.
So, like I said in my last post, I reactivated my Formspring and are welcoming any questions. I received a couple of them throughout the course of yesterday and today, those of which I'm going to share here:

Who's your best friend? And what do you love about her? :)
My best friend is Amanda. What I love about her, aside from how fun and crazy she is, is that she is honestly the most kind-hearted and selfless person I know. She is the definition of a true friend: loyal, trustworthy, caring, has your back no matter what. How lucky am I to have met her?? xoxo

How's your day going?
Great, thank you for asking :) How is your day going?

You're in 3rd place right now in a race. What place are you in when you pass the person in 2nd place?
I would be in 2nd place!..Right? Not the first time I've been asked this haha.

Questions?

Guess what? After abandoning my Formspring two years ago, I decided to reactivate it again. I'm only doing this to give you guys the opportunity to ask me whatever you want! BUT I will not tolerate people hiding behind their computers asking inappropriate/mean/vulgar/etc questions of any sort. I will simply just ignore it!

So, feel free to ask me anything and I'll occasionally post some questions & answers here just to keep the content more interesting!

Turquoise Shorts

Turquoise is my absolute favorite color ever so when I saw these at H&M while shopping downtown yesterday, I HAD to get it. Cheap price + awesome color. What more could I ask for? I just sort of wish I got these a size up because I'm in trouble if I eat too much in these shorts.

I hope everyone is enjoying their Memorial Day weekend!

Tourist For the Day

Ramen at Katanaya. Automatically attacked my bowl with chile pepper before remembering to take a picture

Went shopping in downtown SF while also playing tourist for a day. Whenever I go to this side of town, I have a mission, but this time I wanted to take the time to take some pictures. I even took a picture with the big heart in Union Square--BIG tourist move! Haha oh well. I didn't buy that many things, just a couple of items which I'll share in the next post! After a few hours of shopping we went to this japanese restaurant to try out their ramen. The broth (I got it in miso) was good but my friend and I both hated the idea of fried food getting soggy in our broth. Luckily,I hate my potsticker and fried chicken in the beginning but the rest of the stuff were doomed at the end. By the way, I was totally played because I was snapped taking a picture of my food..."Asians taking pictures of food" Arggh!! :(

Glitter

I saw these glittery shoes more than a year ago, and it was so different and shiny from what I own. So, naturally, I gravitated towards it. They look very similar to a pair made by Steve Madden, but I don't quite remember the name of them. I can't believe I never wore these out before, but I always envisioned them with some denim or white shorts and a white v-neck. Real nice and casual. I paired it with a black muscle tee instead this time--which I made by just cutting up an old t-shirt from high school (it reads: "Where is the Love?")I wanted to incorporate my new Zara bag as well since I never wore this out either. It's a pretty big bag; super roomy for putting in all my notebooks. I could probably fit my laptop in there too but it would be a pain to lug that around while only carrying the handles (I don't think the strap included is strong enough to hold a lappy).

In other words, my camera has gone crazy!!! More than a week ago, I tried to do a self-timer in my porch, as always, and I clumsily set it on a bike's seat. Obviously, I didn't stabilize it because it came tumbling down and hit the concrete as soon as I turned my back on it. Honestly, I didn't think it would be a big deal since I dropped my Canon on a huge rock before and it still worked perfectly. My iPhone is also no exception to my abuse because I can't remember how many times I dropped it and it is still a loyal device to me! So with that said, my camera (I use a Panasonic Lumix right now) became a lunatic and decides to work only when it wants to. Sometimes I can't snap a picture, zoom, set a self-timer, etc. I have to constantly turn it off and hope it works when I turn it back on! I'm the most impatient person in the world so I don't know how much longer I can take this. Time for a new camera??

Earthy

I keep forgetting how annoying it is to walk on this trail with sandals/flats. All the dirt and little rocks get inside my shoes and it's so uncomfortable. I have so many things, dresses in particular, that I don't wear often and I always end up regretting it when winter rolls around. So, I finally got around to this green dress, which I cinched up at the waist with a skinny black belt. By the way, I noticed how plain my face looks! And that's because it is. You would think that since I start school late on Tuesday and Thursdays, I would at least have time to put on a little make-up. I'll keep that in mind next time with some color on the lips or something. Lip products are probably my #1 most neglected items...What a shame because I'm always so excited to try new colors(Nyx in Amsterdam is still dying for me to wear it out)!

Anti-theft Lunch Bags

Hahaha how awesome is this?! First thing it reminded me of was the episode of Friends, when Ross's boss ate the special sandwich that Monica packed for him. He was devastated that someone stole his lunch, and even more so when he discovered his boss couldn't finish the sandwich and had to throw it away. How perfect would this bag have been for Ross's sandwich?!

Perfect for anyone who never wants to take the risk of their lunch being stolen in general. I'm going to keep this anti-theft lunch bag in mind if I get a 9-5 job once I graduate.

Ombré hair?

I've been contemplating on this hair style for almost a year now, and since we're approaching summer, it's once again a top subject in my mind. I've dyed my hair so many times over the years; in fact, I don't think I remember the last time I had natural colored hair! It's probably some time back in my early middle school years. The ombré is basically a gradual change from dark to light hair. It's intended to be low maintenance, as it's supposed to look like your roots have grown out.
I don't intend on being too blonde; an ashy dark brown/very light ash brown would be perfect. The tricky part of doing an ombré on asian hair is the brassiness--hair tends to turn orangey when going lighter or during the bleaching process. That's something I'm not fond of at all, and unfortunately, I fell victim to it many times. Nonetheless, it's something that can be alleviated with a toner or blue shampoo. With that said, I'm in a massive debate as to whether I should do this! After all, hair is just hair, right? It'll eventually grow out if I end up not liking it/it is not suitable for me, right? I should just go for it, right?
Hmmmmm...we'll see!

New Bag!

Zara Shopper Basket/ $79.99

So I've been eyeing this baby for some time now, but I was hesitant because I didn't have a visual idea of how big it was, if the color is true, etc. My decision time would have been cut short if I actually just went to the store itself in Downtown San Francisco, but I never had the time to go and there isn't a Zara in the Sacramento-area. After staring at it countless times on Zara's site and constantly googling images of how it looked like in action, I finally purchased it! I don't own any bags from Zara but from what I've heard, they're good quality. This basket is quite huge, though, but I intend to use it for school (my gray school bag from Urban Outfitters needs to retire for the summer). Originally, I wanted to get an everyday bag, and I was OBSESSED with the Dooney and Bourke Dillen II Satchel. But I feel like I would use a bag way more often for school than for "every day" use since I really don't go out much during the weekdays. Besides, its 1/3 of the price! Who knows, I might change my mind and grab the Dillen, especially if it's on sale :P

Minty

I was thinking the other day how well I thought a minty colored top would look with some light grey jeans. Unfortunately, I left them back at my parents' house in SF, so I went with these acid wash jeans instead. I must say it was a pretty bad idea wearing skin tight jeans in 80+ degree weather! I was sweating bullets and was dying to get out of them once I got back to my apartment.

By the way, how cute is my Chanel iPhone cover?? It's obviously not real because I don't think Chanel even makes them (or do they??) My turquoise hard cover was getting all scratched up--I abuse my phone way too much--so it was time to get a new one. It's been a couple of weeks since I bought it, and so far I love it!

Happy Monday

I'm starting to feel like these red shorts go with pretty much everything! Pairing it with a striped tank and a chambray button up (similar here) over it just makes it so chill and laid back. I haven't worn this shirt in probably years. It's fun looking into my closet back home and pull out things I've neglected. I think I'm going to make it a goal to recycle more of my clothes!

Time to get back to studying and then hit the sheets. Two midterms down, two more to go. I can't wait to be free after Wednesday. Good night!

Weekend

I noticed that I don't ever wear my college t-shirt out. I almost only wear it when I'm lounging around but since I was really lazy to get dressed yesterday for brunch, I ended up just wearing it with white shorts and black boots. Really casual and laid-back! Anyway, I'm so bummed I can't be back home with my mum today because I'm stuck in Davis studying for my three midterms. I gave her a call not long ago and we talked for a bit which was nice! I hope you all have a wonderful Mother's Day!

Bright Coral + Sushi

coral racerback tank (similar here) & high-waisted short from F21, black flats from amiclubwear (similar here and here),vintage belt

spicy tuna roll and salmon sashimi!

half dragon roll/half spider roll

Isn't coral/tangerine orange the perfect color for summer? The gorgeous color showed up more as a pink (sigh, I need to use a better quality camera!) My black/white high-waisted short was originally a skirt but I decided to transform it into a short because I much rather prefer the security of one (besides, it was a tad bit too short for a skirt). I kept the jewelry super simple with just my favorite gold chunky bracelet + a turquoise bracelet since I thought it was a nice contrast against the coral. The tan belt, which I found in my mother's closet and kept ever since, pulled everything together.

Today I had a Real Estate midterm in the morning, and to celebrate the end of the week, went to grab sushi for lunch! Japanese food is probably one of my favorite things to eat. Now I'm just relaxing for a few hours until I have to get right back to studying for my three midterms next week!

P.S. my hair is getting too long...to the point where it it's a hassle to comb/brush my hair. I'm definitely in need of a haircut!

Timeless

F21 striped tank, AE distressed denim shorts (similar here), Classic Converse Chuck Taylors

"Chucks" are such classics. I have them in about just every color, but I stopped wearing them mid-way through high school as I started replacing sneakers with mostly flats. I'm so glad I kept my black pair as well as these because during those days when I just don't want to think about what shoes I'm going to wear, I can just bust these boys out and call it a day. By the way, these cream chucks are from sophomore year of high school, I believe. That's about 5 years ago! And might I add they are a size 2.5 (all my other pairs are either a size 2.5 or 3). You'd be surprised I can probably still fit my shoes from middle school...I swear my feet doesn't grow!

Rose

Gold Tone & Horn Acrylic Bangle Watch - Guess (good style here, here and here)
Basic tank in Rose - F21
White distressed shorts - Cotton On ( similar here)
Bracelet - amiclubwear
Belt-old

Got a new bracelet in bright pastel colors! I originally got it as a filler item but I must admit, it's growing on me. I figured a rosy tank with white shorts was a bit plain, so the colorful bracelet kind of adds a nice unexpected touch.

Striped

Wore my new sweater and boots the other day! I look a little shorter here than usual--or maybe I'm just short haha (I'm 5'4). My schoolbag looks heavy because I tend to stuff a lot of things in there. Anyway, I'm watching Avengers tonight and I'm so excited! I'm anticipating lines will be long so we're getting there earlier just in case.
